Old-Fashioned Cornbread

Made with fresh milled cornmeal and local honey.


Ingredients

1 cup flour

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup honey

3 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 cup. milk

1/3 cup olive oil

1 large egg


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Oil your cast iron if it's not already seasoned well.

  2. Whisk together flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Stir in honey.

  4. Add milk, oilive oil, and egg. Whisk until well combined (will be pretty runny)

  5. Pour into cast iron skillet.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes (cover for first 10-15 minutes, then uncover to prevent over browning).
